6 Nigerians arrested in Ghana for alleged kidnap and rape

Ghana Police have reportedly arrested a 32-year-old Nigerian for the kidnap and rape of a 21-year-old woman at Ashaley Botwe, near Accra.

Five other Nigerians; Ike Amaechi, Anthony Emmanuel, Godfred Alex, Kayode Ayodele and Opius Owner were also alleged to have assaulted the woman.

The Accra Regional Police Commander of Operations, Chief Superintendent Kwesi Ofori, who confirmed the incident said the main suspect, Chimaroke, and the young woman were friends on Facebook.

On the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr, Chimaroke invited the woman to his house, where he lived with the five accomplices, for a present.

On her arrival, Chimaroke asked for sex and upon refusal, he forcefully had sex with her.

“Chimaroke made advances and when she resisted, he smashed her phone and raped her.”

“Fortunately for her [the victim], she had another phone on her, which she used to call her brothers, who later called the police to go and rescue her,’’ he said.
