The University of Missouri has officially revoked US Comedian and actor Bill Cosby’s Honorary degree, owing to his recent sexual assault lawsuit.
USA Today reports that the Board of Curators of the University decided to strip the disgraced black actor of his Honorary Degree in Humane Letters which he was awarded in 1999.
They stated clearly in their official statement that their decision was based on his alleged sexual assault scandals. Bill Cosby already lost some of his honours two years ago.
The System President of the University Mun Y. Choi in a statement said:
“Honorary degrees throughout the University of Missouri System are reserved for those who have ascended to the pinnacle of their fields while conducting themselves consistent with the university’s core values.
“The evidence presented during the recent criminal trial indicated that (Cosby) engaged in behaviour that is in direct conflict with the core values of the University of Missouri.”
This revoked by the University of Missouri comes barely days after the actor through his spokespeople, declared that he would sensitise young ones on how to avoid sexual assault allegations.
