AHEAD of the Saturday’s governorship and state house of assembly elections, President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday arrived his Daura hometown, Katsina state to participate in the election.
It was his first home coming after his victory at the 2019 Presidential election on February 23, 2019. President Buhari was declared winner of the Presidential election by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC , Mahmood Yakubu on February 27.
The president”s Chopper touched down at the Daura Helipad at about 7pm and was received on arrival by the Emir of Daura Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar and other traditional rulers from the Daura emirate council.
President Buhari had earlier commissioned a N1.24 billion Emergency Notification Center with real time technology and other facilities built by the Kaduna State government to enhance surveillance and security of the state. Speaking at the event, the President applauded the Governor Nasir el-Rufai-led administration for initiating the project, noting that tackling the security challenges bedeviling the country required the cooperation of the authorities at both the federal and state levels.
The President who also commended the Kaduna facility which was built to activate the use of real time technology in combating insecurity in the state, assured of the federal government’s support in the provision of resources towards improving the general security situation across States of the country.
In his welcome address, Governor el-Rufai explained that the emergency facility was built with modern and real time technology including the use of drones to monitor every inch of the state.
He said the state government will continue to provide enabling environment including accommodation to aid the security agencies to carry out their constitutional responsibilities.
