eNaira Speed Wallet App Disappears From Google Play Store Barely 48 Hours After Launch

Nigeria’s digital currency (eNaira) app, Speed Wallet has reportedly disappeared from the Google Play store barely 48 hours after it was launched making the country the first African Country to launch a digital currency.

Reports gathered by The Punch publication suggest that the eNaira merchant wallet which is designed for businesses is still running as over 10,000 people have downloaded it on Play Store.

According to sources the eNaira wallet on Apple Store is still active but has been upgraded hence people with iPhone can access it but android users can’t download it as it’s not available.

To access the eNaira, users have to download the ‘speed wallet’ which gives users the chance to make transactions easy and at a fast pace.

The speed wallet is digital storage that holds the digital currency (eNaira) and it’s being managed by a distributed ledger.

The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari launched the digital currency on Monday, 25th October 2021 hence making the country the first country to create a Central Bank digital currency (CBDC)
