Kenya police officer reportedly kills his superior for threatening him

An unnamed junior police officer serving in Kigumo, Murang’a County in Kenya, has reportedly shot dead an officer commanding police station (OCS).

According to Daily Nation, the junior officer grabbed a gun upon arriving at work and shot his superior in both arms, stomach and leg, and then shot at two other officers before fleeing with the pistol.

The commanding officer reportedly died while waiting for an ambulance to take him to Kenyatta National Hospital.

While the Murang’a County Police Commander Naomi Ichami said “the motive of the shooting could not be immediately established“, an officer told Daily Nation what led to the shooting.

According to Daily Nation:

“An officer who is not authorised to speak to the media, the OCS had threatened to take disciplinary action against the officer after he reported to work drunk.

The suspect is said to be a designated police driver at the station.”

However, the police refused to confirm or deny this story but said it has launched an investigation into it.
