Nigeria’s COVID-19 hit 51,905 as NCDC confirms over 600 new cases


The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced that the nation now has 51,905 cases of COVID-19 after recording 601 new infections in the night of Saturday, August 22.

On its Twitter page, the NCDC revealed that the death toll from the covid-19 pandemic is now 997 with 38,767 discharged patients who have fully recovered from the disease.

The national health agency also disclosed from its chart that Lagos topped the list with 401 new infections. This shows a significant increase from the state’s daily count in the past 24 hours as it recorded 33 infections the previous day, Friday.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) was next on the list as it added 37 new infections to what it already had.

In Nigeria, 51,905 have contracted the coronavirus, with a total of 38,767 recoveries recorded.Next is Oyo with 19 and Ondo with cases. Abia, Enugu and Kaduna racked 13 cases each.
