Manchester United have concluded negotiations that will see Jose Mourinho take over as the next manager of the club, according to Harry Redknapp.

With Louis van Gaal under pressure due to a lack of consistency with results and conservative playing style, the Portuguese has been widely touted as the Dutchman’s replacement.

Van Gaal himself claims the club would not speak to Mourinho without his knowing, but Redknapp says the deal is done.

“It hasn’t worked out at all for Louis van Gaal at Manchester United,” he told Sirius XM. “It’s been a disaster for him – no doubt about that.

“From the people I know who are in the know, Jose Mourinho to United is a done deal.”
