Famous Nollywood producer and actor turned politician, Desmond Elliot on Wednesday 6th recalled, while motivating Students during a professional forum at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Ogba Lagos, how he started off as ‘waka pass’ (unimportant role), earning N500 per movie at the onset of his acting career.
The 43 years old Lawmaker who represents Surulere Constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly while at the gathering which had Greennews’ Political Ralph in attendance, maintained that he was getting himself prepared for the future (today).
He said: “My Mother waited for three years, hoping to see a movie I would feature. She always say to me that ‘Desmond’, you go out and come in, NO film, NO money!
“In year 200/2001, I usually feature as ‘Waka Pass’ in movies where I get paid N500 before I went to an acting School and became a professional actor. Who says there is no space? ‘Na lie o’. To be successful, you must learn to work hard”.
Desmond was welcomed by the Institution’s Provost, Mr. Gbemiga Ogunleye with a heart melting note.
Ogunleye said: “Our guest is a writer and he writes well. He is a producer and he produces well. He is a director and he directs well. He is a legislator and he legislates well”.
