Arsenal Striker, Theo Walcott, has beaten the Champions League goals records of Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldo da Lima, following his goal in Arsenal’s 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the competition on Tuesday night.
The England international opened the scoring for the Gunners in the game, before Bayern came back to score five to win 10-2 on aggregate, meaning Arsenal have once again failed to go beyond the round of 16 of the Champions League.
But while Walcott would be disappointed by his side’s exit, and while he may also never match the overall accomplishments of Ronaldo and Zidane, but can at least take solace in the fact that he has usurped both legends’ goals haul.
The goal against Bayern on Tuesday night was Walcott’s 15th in the Champions League, taking him one above Zidane and Ronaldo, who both scored 14 times each in the competition during their glittering careers.
Meanwhile, the calls for Arsene Wenger to step down as the Arsenal manager increased further, following the defeat to Bayern Munich.
The loss means the Gunners have failed to progress beyond the round of 16 of the Champions League for the seventh season running.
