The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Balarabe Kakale, confirmed this to newsmen on Friday in Sokoto.
Kakale said the deaths were those confirmed out of some cases reported at the village dispensary in the last three weeks.
However, the commissioner explained that the situation had now been brought under control.
He said: “The well had been well covered now, while its water had been treated with chemicals.
“The water samples had also been taken and we are awaiting the results of the laboratory test.
“The state government had also dispatched a high powered medical team, drugs and medicament.”
Kakale explained that the state government had set up isolation camps in the village as well as at the nearby Goronyo General Hospital in case of referrals.
The Caretaker Chairman of Goronyo Local Government Council, Alhaji Galadima Dingyadi, commended the state government for taking proactive measure to solve the problem.
Dingyadi said: “We have also provided additional drugs and medical staff at the dispensary in the village.
“So far, so good, the situation has been brought under control.”
