December 13th Last year a tanker with diesel crashed at Festac Link bridge which warrant the closure of that side of the bridge and just one side of the bridge was open for motorist to ply.
After the accident last year, the people of Festac find it hard coping with traffic, especially through the link bridge, the tanker carrying diesel crashed by the bridge December last year which resulted to the loss of properties and also damaging that side of the bridge that became a threat to the people plying the road, throughout the festive period it was a constant traffic jam on that route because the affected part of the bridge was shutdown to prevent collapse.
The reconstruction of the affected side of the bridge has since begun and motorists have to cope with unprecedented shutdown sometimes as a preventive measure and also to minimize risk. CCECC the construction company handling the reconstruction of the bridge is bringing hope back to the people of Festac and hoping soonest the bridge will be motor-able again, even the local government chairman Comrade Valentine Buraimoh is pleading with residence of Festac to bear with them and the hardship the road has caused them as they are working to complete the construction.
