Yul Edochie resigns as SSA to Obiano, defects to PDP

Actor turned politician, Yul Edochie, has defected to the People Democratic Party on Tuesday.

The 36-year-old also revealed that has resigned as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on creative and entertainment media to Anambra governor, Willie Obiano.

The actor made the announcement on his verified Instagram and Twitter page.

This is his third political affiliation in less than two years.

Edochie said his decision to join the opposition party PDP and support the presidential ambition of Atiku Abubakar is for the sake of Nigerians.

The actor on Monday said he believes in the PDP’s agenda for the country.

His Tweet read;

“Today I gave up my position as SSA to Governor of Anambra & joined the PDP with tons of my supporters to give 100% support to @atiku & @PeterObi.

“I do this for all suffering Nigerians. I believe it will not be in vain I believe in @OfficialPDPNig

“I thank you sir, His Excellency Chief Willie Obiano, the Executive Governor of Anambra State for giving me the opportunity to work with you, also to the First Lady of Anambra Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano.

“Nigeria needs me. I also thank the Chief of Staff of Anambra State, Chief Primus Odili.”

On the 14 of July 2017, Yul Edochie declared his intention run for Governor of Anambra State.

Edochie contested the November 2017 Anambra governorship election on the platform of Democratic Peoples Congress (DPC).

He ran against 36 other governorship aspirants, including the incumbent governor.

The actor secured only 145 votes, and months after the election, he defected to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Recall that Yul had once disclosed that he will contest the 2019 presidential election but by September, he announced that he had dropped his ambition.
