Worried by the rising rate of examination malpractice among students in the country, a non-governmental organization (NGO), Zero Tolerance for Social Immoralities Initiative (ZETSI) Africa is set to hold her maiden Examination Malpractice Prevention Summit.

The President of ZETSI Africa, Ambassador Razaq Jeje in a statement on Thursday, said the summit which is in collaboration with the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB), will hold on 24 October, 2019 in FCT, Abuja.

Themed “Tackling Examination Malpractice: The role of stakeholders,” the summit will take place at the National Centre for Women Development, Abuja.

Jeje said the event will provide a platform for stakeholders in the education sector to deliberate on ways to curb the menace, noting that combating examination malpractice required collaboration of all relevant stakeholders.

He disclosed that the summit will also feature the flag-off of campaign against examination malpractice among secondary school students in the country. The ZETSI Africa President explained that the campaign is targeted at educating students and parents on the dangers of examination malpractice, lamenting that some parents encourage their children to engage in the illicit act.

JAMB Registrar and former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede will chair the summit while former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi is the Guest Speaker.

Dignitaries expected to grace the occasion include Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, Prof. Mohammed Abubakar Kaoje (OON), Hon. Justice Ahmad O. Belgore, Commissioner for Science and Technology, Sokoto State, Dr. Kulu Haruna Abubakar (OFR), among others.

Members of the Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education as well as top officials of examination bodies in the country including NECO, WAEC and JAMB are also expected to attend the summit.

Jeje also hinted that his organisation will use the occasion to recongise governors, organisations and individuals making efforts to revamp the education sector in their respective states.
